Configure Hybrid Onedrive and Site Features in SharePoint 2016

Configure Hybrid Onedrive and Site Features in SharePoint 2016 is a new feature that would alow users to use OneDrive as their personal repository instead of the On-premises Onedrive or MySites. This feature was also added in SharePoint 2013 with Service Pack 1. This feature basically allows users to continue using their On-premises SharePoint farm while providing users with an easy way to store, share, and collaborate in the cloud with OneDrive for Business in Office 365.
Your users can:
• Store personal files they are working on in the cloud, and access these files even when they aren’t signed in to your corporate network.
• Access these files on devices such as iPhones, Windows Phones, tablets, and so on.
• Share and collaborate on documents with others in your organization or with external users by using guest links.
Let’s take a brief look at how it works :
1. Navigate to SharePoint 2016 Central admin and select “Configure Hybrid Onedrive and Site Features”.

If you receive any error, try configuring or restarting the User Profile Service.
2. Next Configure the Settings by providing basic OneDrive URL. I am using the following OneDrive\My Sites URL.
URL – https://learningwayinstitute-my.sharepoint.com/
Select the Options for “OneDrive and Sites” to use Ondrive and Sites from Office 365.

3. Finally, click on the “Sites” above to navigate to the Office 365 Login screen.

That’s it!. Users can now use 25GB of OneDrive space rather than using On-premises Libraries to save personal documents.
